AKC 's Canine Health Foundation borrows and uses

names of "Professional Advisory Committee" scientists

The seven distinguished scientists listed immediately below agreed, in late 1995 to serve as the advisory committee to the AKC's then-newly-established Canine Health Foundation.

Their names and status in the field of canine genetics were used to lend promise of progress to the Foundation -- and to raise money to "combat" a problem which the AKC had been nurturing for more than a quarter of a century.

At the time of the advisory committee's formation the AKC was "giving" its token-sized "research" funds to a for-profit corporation, -- presumably with an expectation of sharing in any profits.

During the entirety of 1996 not one of the professionals on the advisory committee was consulted, nor was the full committee ever convened or consulted.

Can there be any doubt that the AKC is not about dogs-- but that it is about money -- and power -- and money?

Consider that the AKC's rulers were ready to just use the seven scientists, their names and their collective prestiege?

Can anyone outside of Westminister's closed circle feel confident they are sufficiently respected by The Deciders to escape being purely used -- and then discarded?

Lay Members

Sheldon Adler, M.D., Suffern, N.Y. 10901. He is an AKC delegate, as is his wife, and she, also, judges dog shows. He presses for a seat at 51 Madison's head table. He just could become be an establishment-reliable candidate in next March's board election -- except for the fact that Westminster already has a sponsored board member resident in NYC's far-suburban Suffern. She's Patricia Skully,

John A. Studebaker, Richland, Mich. 49083. AKC delegate. Judges about 20 breeds in dog shows. Has twice run for the AKC's board. He was, again, defeated in 1997.
